1987 Ford Club Wagon XL
I never owned this truck. It was my dad's, but I thought it was awesome and couldn't not post it up. Equipped with a 4 barrel Holley carb and a backfire that would frequently set off car alarms if coaxed to do so.
1985 Volkswagen Cabriolet Wolfsburg
First car, and probably one of the most fun cars I've ever had. It was a 5 speed, my dad got a new canvas top for it, and the small hole in the exhaust made it burble and pop when you came off the throttle for added racecar feel. It was usually broken though.
1995 Volvo 850 GLT Wagon 5MT
After getting rid of the VW during high school, my dad and I set up a compromise. He wanted a wagon and I wanted a stick. After a lot of searching this wonderful car wound up in our driveway. My dad has restored and drives this car every day. Rock solid.
1996 Audi A6 Avant 2.8 Quattro
The first and only automatic car I've owned. It had a lot of bells and whistles, and none of them worked except the heated seats and all wheel drive. Not bad things to have going to college in New Hampshire.
1999 BMW M3
A step up into the world of big boy's toys. RWD, a nice 5 speed tranny, and a freight-train of an inline six. Simple, reliable, and wonderful to drive. But, with a college kid's salary I was pretty afraid of anything going wrong. That definitely took the fun out of things. Due to the cost of maintenance, this car was also the reason I taught myself how to work on cars. Turns out I would use that skill on every single vehicle since.
1997 Subaru Legacy L Sedan
Bullet-proof 2.2L engine, one of the loosest 5 speed shifters in existence, cheaper than a set of snow tires for the M3, and entirely responsible for getting me addicted to rallycross racing. This was a fantastic car. I beat the snot out of it and it never quit. Heck, the A/C still worked!
1999 Volkswagen Jetta TDI 5MT
I never thought I would sell my beloved Subaru and my beautiful BMW for a diesel sedan, but after graduating college and deciding to go on a massive cross-country road trip that's exactly what I did. It got me across the country except for a broken shifter linkage in front of our nation's capital, and then started having ridiculous amounts of problems. Still trying to fix this car enough to sell it.
1996 Subaru Impreza L Coupe 5MT
With the road trip over and the Jetta for daily duty, I needed a vehicle that could get me back in the rallycross game. For a grand plus the cost of snow tires, this car couldn't be beat. I actually became somewhat competitive in this car. Love cars like this.
1999 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS Coupe
Sensing a trend? I liked my racing subie, but wanted a nicer one that I could drive every day in place of the Jetta. What. A. Car. I love the looks, working on it, racing it, and listening to it. I never thought I would want to get rid of it.
2006 Volvo V70R 6MT
I might be growing up a bit. With the interest in rallycross fading away and product design coming to the forefront, this is just about the most ludicrous way of handling everything I need while still having fun. Sportiness when I want it, space when I need it. And maybe I'm just a wagon guy, but I happen to love the look of it as well.
